CORBA est composé de :

• un ORB utilisant
  • un protocole dérivé de GIOP, comme :
    • IIOP
  • IDL (Interface Definition Language) pour spécifier les interfaces entre objets communicants.
• des services horizontaux au dessus de cet ORB
• des dispositifs (facilities) verticaux au-dessus de ces services
