Vers vendredi 13 14 h un jeune homme travaillant à la Shephard ditch, sortait du magasin de M. Yokum, et fut bombardé par un lot immense de petits poissons disons de 1 à 3 pouces de long, et consistant en une grande variété - sun, perche, poisson volant et de nombreux autres qui n'appartenaient pas à la famille de cette échelle. Le jeune homme appela ceux qui se trouvaient dans le magasin pour venir voir la merveille, lorsque plus d'une douzaine d'hommes sortirent et les virent tomber thick et vite. Ils couvraient le toit du magasin et s'étendaient sur une circonférence de 2 ou 3 acres, et peut-être plus.
